The Courage to Stand

Celebrating the Strength and Beauty of Women

There is a quiet, undeniable power that lives within women — a strength that does not always shout, but always endures. It shows up in the way we carry our histories, in the way we nurture our families, in the way we rise after every fall, and in the way we continue to create beauty even in the midst of challenge. This strength is not loud or boastful. It is rooted, steady, and deeply woven into the fabric of who we are.

As an artist, I have always been drawn to this inner radiance. It is the spark behind every portrait I paint — the reason I return to the canvas again and again. When I paint African American women, I am honoring the stories that shaped us, the wisdom passed down through generations, and the courage it takes to stand fully in our truth. I am celebrating the beauty that comes from resilience, softness, and self‑discovery.

Women carry so much: hope, memory, responsibility, love. And yet, we continue to shine. We continue to uplift. We continue to build communities, nurture dreams, and hold space for others even when our own hearts are heavy. There is beauty in that kind of strength — a beauty that deserves to be seen, honored, and remembered.
