Art is my refuge — a shield for my thoughts and a fortress that steadies me through life’s storms. Each painting becomes a story, a quiet pathway for my mind’s wanderings, inviting me to slow down, be still, and give shape to the stirrings of my soul.

I was raised in the company of powerful African American women: my mother, my aunts, and my grandmother, an artist in her own right whose quilts told stories of their own. Their strength, creativity, and love continue to guide my hand every time I step before a canvas.

My Story

A journey guided by color, intuition, and the powerful women who inspire my art

The call to honor the extraordinary power of women has guided my work since the early 2000s. These women — the heart of their families, their communities, and the world — impart wisdom, love, and a foundation strong enough for future generations to rise from. Their resilience and vibrancy are deeply rooted in both our past and our present, and their spirit continues to shape the stories I bring to the canvas.

Art, for me, is more than a creative practice — it is a vehicle for unity. In every composition, I strive to foster warmth, hope, and a sense of belonging, echoing my belief that art has the power to transform the spaces it touches and the communities it serves.

Creating art invigorates me. It allows me to step into a world of “what ifs,” a place where everyday concerns fade away — the dishes in the sink, the unpaid bills, the noise of life. In that quiet space, I hear a gentle voice whisper, “use red here… mix in a little orange.” Sometimes the voice surprises me, but I’ve learned that when I listen, it’s always right.
